This is how the story started…
The MobiFi story starts just after team SmartMob won the Dutch mobility hackathon 2019. The challenge of this event was to fill the gap between public transport and private car usage within the existing mobility infrastructure. In other words, how can we combine drving and public transport to make travel more efficient?
The winning idea was to streamline the park & ride experience and consolidate other options (e.g., sharing scooter, tram, bus) into one app. Following the event, a few of the team took the idea further and investigated how blockchain technology might help solve urban mobility challenges. Fast forward a year, and MobiFi was born.
After engaging with many end consumers and mobility service provider, we came to understand that mobility decisions are largely is irrational, and it's difficult to change deeply ingrained habits. Various companies have tried different behavior change incentives, but for the most part, they stopped working once the incentives ceased.
Thus, we are looking for a new way of coaxing users toward sustainability while also streamlining the transportation experience.
During our participation in the F10 Incubator and accelerator in Zurich, Switzerland. We created MobiFi, a crypto-based Travel2Earn solution, a gamification of travel, a new financial tool for mobility.

MobiFi has successfully piloted an end-to-end parking service in the Netherlands 🇳🇱, showcasing the innovative integration of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency payments in promoting sustainability. Despite this achievement, the complex nature of system integration and government policies have presented challenges in realizing sustainable profitability within the B2C mobility sector. Undeterred, MobiFi's journey progresses as we pivot our focus more towards the travel sector. This strategic shift aims to connect a growing community of web3 travelers, fostering beneficial impacts on local businesses and reinventing the travel experience through our advanced technological solutions.

The strategic pivot simplifies MobiFi's use case, allowing for a more focused implementation. Our web3 travel platform is now innovatively bifurcated into two distinct yet synergistic components. Firstly, we offer a blockchain-based marketplace, a platform where users can list local services specifically tailored to cater to the needs of travelers. This approach not only enhances the travel experience but also nurtures local economies. Secondly, the platform empowers companies to provide web2 travel and mobility services (e.g., parking, hotel, car rental), leveraging our sophisticated web3 technology stack. This dual approach not only streamlines service offerings but also significantly enriches the user experience, positioning MobiFi at the forefront of the evolving travel industry.
Our MobiFi app seamlessly integrates both pillars of our platform—blockchain-based marketplace and web2-based travel services—ensuring superior user experience and simplicity. Our team is diligently developing an innovative structure that facilitates the customization of mini-apps within our mobile application. This enhancement is designed to enable a broader range of service providers to join our platform in the future.
The blockchain-based marketplace operates under the governance of our community, utilizing our new governance token, which is scheduled for listing in 2024. This approach ensures fair and transparent operations, aligning perfectly with the values and expectations of our end users and community members.
Concurrently, the web2-based travel and mobility services are managed directly by the service providers. This model ensures that our users receive the highest level of support, akin to traditional web2 companies, including reliable email and phone customer service. This hybrid approach not only leverages the strengths of both web3 and web2 paradigms but also guarantees a comprehensive and user-centric service experience.
